EVALUATION PHASE
After completing the design of our prototype, the focal user task we chose to evaluate is for the user to disable the widget in the settings. We chose this task because we wanted to examine how easy or difficult it is for a user to navigate to the settings and disable the widget. We decided to choose one person who isn’t an InfoSci major to get the perspective of someone who may not have many technical skills as well as the perspective of someone who is an InfoSci major. We thought it would be interesting to see if we receive different feedback from the two.
USER INTERACTION
We found that the settings for the widget is simple and easy to find, it took our first user with technical skills just 30 seconds, and the second user just under 50 seconds to find the settings and disable the widget. Because the widget icon remains on the toolbar, once clicked, the user can easily access the settings on the top right side of the widget. After analyzing the reviews the users provided about the widget, one shared theme of a shortcoming of the widget was that the settings should have preferences to be more personalized to the user, so that may be able to enable and disable certain features of the app rather than disabling the app completely.
